Looking back at 2012

2012 in review

As we count down the final days and hours on this year, we thought it timely to take a stroll down memory lane and reflect on some of the things we’ve seen in the last 12 months. Here are our top 5 highlights…

Equilibrium at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show

In April, savewater!® teamed up with Phillip Johnson Landscapes to partner with City West Water, South East Water, Yarra Valley Water, Melbourne Water and the Victorian Government to bring you the ‘Equilibrium’ exhibit at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show. This exhibit showcased three gardens to contrast a taditional back yard with a sustainable garden, while also showing how important community spaces are for the urban landscape. Trevor Cochrane joined us at the end of the show to sum it all up on this video.

Washing detergent information for cleaner clothes and healthier gardens

Moving to the laundry, City West Water partnered with Choice to carry out a study on high performance detergents. The results make it easier to find detergents that not only suit your performance needs but also help gardeners find the best detergents for greywater use.

savewater!® awards turn 10

The National savewater!® awards rounded off National Water Week, rewarding some fantastic achievments in sustainable water use.  We paused to reflect on some of the winners from previous years, you can hear about them in the following video.

As we look forward to 2013, the International Year of Water Cooperation, savewater!® has joined with WaterAid Australia for refillit. refillit is a movement of people who want to reduce the amount of plastic in the environment, improve their health by staying hydrated and provide relief to our World’s poorest communities. $1 from every refillit bottle sold helps WaterAid provide water, sanitation and hygiene to Timor-Leste (East Timor).
